AT&T = ripoff

In November 2009I set up a business line for a NEW business, one that is not yet making an income. But a telephone and a fax and internet is a must for communication purposes and to get your business rolling. To get a discount on the account, which charges outrageous fees, you had to sign an "agreement". I did so, three times (once sent by mail, two by email) - each time they said they had not received it. After I could not get the internet to work, I called tech support (another item AT&T bills for), they said they could not help me because internet was set up to start February 2, 2010. So why were they already billing me. I hadn't even received the modem yet. I called again in February, and they still didn't have my agreement on file, and with no real services being provided yet, I cancelled the whole thing. I was told I was due a refund, and that a supervisor would call to provide the amount of refund and when I could expect it. A couple of emails later, and still no call from the supervisor.
Almost a month later, I received a BILL. I called to inquire, spoke to a very rude Ms. Brown (I see her name pop up in other complaint searches), and she said she would personally add to that bill because she now has an agreement on file. I could now expect a bill of over $1900. Never mind that I was told on a half-dozen calls that they did not have an agreement on file, that my service is cancelled at my request, and a refund is due to me. She says they were incorrect - basically said they did not know how to do their jobs - that she was the one I had to deal with.
Icing on the cake - Ms. Brown, of Macon GA, does not have a supervisor or anyone else I can talk to about this delima - I said she must own the company if she is the TOP dog that I can only talk to.
AT&T customer service - my ***. Oh yeah, she said I should not use profane languate = so if the english language, words straight from a dictionary are profane, then she was profane as well.
DON'T USE AT&T - NO MATTER WHAT THEY OFFER YOU - THEY LIE, LIE, LIE, AND THEN LIE SOME MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
