We were given gifts at work because we had reached a milestone. I received a 4 man tent that was purchased at Canadian Tire in Grand-Falls New Brunswick. I don't do any camping. I'm not equipped to do any camping and I'm not about to purchase any sleeping bags, propane cooking stove, bug zappers or what have you to go camping because I received a tent. I went to Canadian Tire the same day that I had received the tent to return it. Because it was a gift there was no receipt. I did not want the money, I just wanted to trade it in for something useful. Even the manager / owner of the Canadian Tire store acknowledged that the gift was bought there but was very clear that he didn't want to take it back because he had not issued receipts for the gifts. No receipts - no returns. It looked like it was a one way deal to get rid of their older inventories which they had no intentions of getting back. This Christmas or next holiday season don't shop at Canadian Tire to buy your gifts, if by any chance your loved ones already have what you've got them spare them the trouble of trying to return them.
