This is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to... and I was suprised to hear that people say Santa Cabrini was the Montreal death trap!
It's nice that they hire fresh young students straight out of medical school, to train and give them experience... but when students are being trained by student, it's a disaster waiting to happen!
I have been to many hospitals, not only for myself, but with friends as well... and for all types of reasons, illnesses, injuries, birhts ect...
And of course there is always one or 2 things you dislike about a hospital, other than the fact that it is a hospital...
In every hospital, there is always that one doctor who is a complete jerk, that one nurse who does'nt know your ass from you head, that one secretary who it seems is her first day and keeps you waiting at the counter forever, and made about 20 mistakes in your name, that is only 5 letters long!
Well at Cité de la Santé, it's that dumb secretary who is the best worker there.
Sure the place looks nicer than all the other hospitals in the Montreal region (It's in Laval) but that's because it's new... just like their staff.
On 2 seperate occasions, they misdiagnosed my 3 back hernias and 4 fused disks for a mild back sprain.
My husband has chronic kidneys stones, and went there once to be treated...
His stone had blocked his urinary tract (He could not urinate... and you have a maximum amount of time to unblock it... usually from 2-4 hours... emergency situation... before it causes irriversible damage, and even a rupture)
They obviously knew this fact, but they still made him wait in the waiting room for over 4 hours, until he was in so much pain that they decided it was time to take him in and put a catheter in!
The next day, they injected him with iodine (which was clearly stated in his file, and a BIG red wrist band that he was GREATLY allergic to it, and he almost died on the table!!!)
Then they forgot to freeze him when taking out the BIG stone.
After all this, the nurse tried to take out his catheter, but forgot to deflate the end, and tore up the top of the tract at the top of his penis. (She would have torn the whole thing had he not kicked her away!!!)
Then for the other stones that remained in his kidneys, he was told to wait until they blocked, to come back in and have them removed. (There are surgeries and other treatment methods for that... I'm not a health professionnal, and even I knew that!!!)
The time I accompagnied my neighbour, they hospitalized him, but I noticed that they had placed him in an unclean bed with fresh blood drizzles on the blanket and pillow (I thought it was cleaned, and wanted to make sure, so I touched it, and blood stained my finger!)
Many people have told me their horror stories about this place, but since I was'nt present at the time, can't really mention it here.
